"I would cast _______ as Katniss Everdeen"

Don't fret! Taylor Momsen is NOT going to play Katniss :P As amusing as that would be in some twisted alternate universe, I don't think that she would even be considered for casting, since she's probably too busy singing in her band, etc. Anyway, let's think nicer thoughts now...


There are a lot of articles about casting Katniss though and we've had people share their choices. Let's now dedicate an entire post to sharing who we think should be cast as Katniss, so when Kattniss is cast, we can all look back and be nostalgic.

It's simple. Just tell us who you think should play Katniss and why. Include pictures! (And play nice, not everyone is going to agree with each other, obviously).

I would cast Taylor Momsen as Katniss Everdeen.





lol jking. I actually don't know who I would cast. In my mind I see somewhat of a blurry image and thus a mishmash of actresses, so it's hard to choose just one. I wouldn't mind a completely unknown or relatively unknown actress, though. Just as long as she looks the part and can act the part.

But you know if Kristen Stewart wasn't Bella and had no involvement with Twilight, I might actually see her as Katniss.

Yeah. Kristen's a fantastic actress (imo), but I just can't have her playing the main charrie in ALL my book-movies. She would be a good Katniss, though.

Nina Dobrev is my favorite casting suggestion thus far, especially in terms of how I picture Katniss.



Missy Peregrym would bring the most fierceness, but she might be a little too old.

Yes it is indeed her! I think she might be a bit too old but I included her picture in the banner because she looked Katnissy in it (plus I'm kinda on a LOST high these days).

Aside from the abysmal 90210, I've seen her play both sweet (Grey's Anatomy cameo as an amish patient) and bad ass characters (she played a soldier trapped in a desert cave in 'The Hills Have Eyes 2')...

I don't really have anyone that I think of as Katniss in my head, but my favorite suggestion that I've heard is Nina Dobrev. I think she could pull it off. Well, based on looks. I've never seen her act.

She's relatively unknown, skinny enough to assume she suffered through hunger, and she has a badass-ness about her.
I haven't seen anything she's been in - I'm just basing it on looks, pretty much.

i think i would be pretty sweet to have an unknown actor but besides that one person that comes to mind is Alexandra Daddario, she was in Percy Jackson





i'd also vote for Kaya bc she fits the description and is already fierce as hell, i'd love to see her in an adventure role like this

nina dobrev's probably my favorite for katniss. she's the only person i've seen that fits her description in the books and the way she looks in my mind.

i'd be happy with kaya scodelario too. but that's just because i fucking love her and skins overall so maybe it's just me being biased.

I didn't like Kaya at first because Katniss and Effy are SO different, but Kaya's a fantastic actress, so if she were cast I'd be content.

Nina Dobrev actually looks a lot like the Katniss in my head but I'm not fond of her acting :P

I've also thought of Camilla Belle.



I think it'd be better if they cast someone unknown, though.

I like the suggestions of Malese Jow and Kaya Scodelario. Not sure either of them are perfect for the part, per se, but they're the best suggestions I've seen. I'd probably lean toward Kaya just because I adore her and I know she's a fantastic actress.

I feel like most of the actors people choose are old. I mean, Katniss is fairly athletic and malnourished, so I feel like she should be small and look young or at least like a teenager. I don't think they're perfect, but I feel like Lexi Ainsworth and Drew Garrett would be an appropriate Katniss and Peeta.

She's probably the closest I've imagined Katniss as besides Nina (who's unfortunately too old for the role now).
I don't know how well she can act though. All I've seen her in is Gossip Girl.

Malese Jow, aka Anna on the vampire diaries. I think that she has the look and the attitude to pull it off. Idk she is pretty much perfect for the role in my eyes. I can't see Nina in the role, because she looks a bit too old to me.

Am I the only one that doesn't want Nina? I don't know, she looks too sweet(?) or something. I've seen her act and everything, I don't dislike her, but I wouldn't see her for this role.

Completely agree. Although I've only watched series 1 of skins, as soon as I saw some of the HG fanmade trailers I could totally see her playing Katniss! She has that independent, strong, able to survive in crazy situations vibe.

i would much prefer an unknown, katniss is too awesome to come with baggage of 'i hate her in that show'

Jodelle would be awesome! I've seen her in 'Tideland' and she was a great actress, even at such a young age. And seeing as she's now almost 16, she would have the perfect age.
